Achieving the Equality Standard

The Diversity Trust, working in partnership with the Substance Misuse Team at Bristol City Council, has launched a new resource for the substance misuse sector in the city. The Step By Step Guide to Achieving the Equality Standard is a guide for service providers to help meet the Equality Standard which we published previously in 2013/14. The new guide is designed as a practical tool to support organisations to meet the Equality Act 2010, the Equality Duty and includes Indicators of Cultural Competence. The guide is part of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Toolkit.

Berkeley Wilde, Director of the Diversity Trust, said: “We have been working with the Substance Misuse Team at Bristol City Council since 2009 and last year we brought together this work into a toolkit for services. This new resource acts as a practical guide to support organisations in their work. We hope that services will continue to use the toolkit and that the new guide will help. The idea behind the guide is that you have a manual to help you to assess how well you are doing in meeting the Equality Standard and has been produced to compliment the Standard.”

“If organisations require more specialist input then they can work with us to use the guide to increase cultural competence.”
