During September, 2022, the Diversity Trust hosted a talk and discussion webinar, entitled ‘Exploring bisexuality
research: From biphobia to bipositivity?’ with Nikki Hayfield (she/her), in celebration of Bi Visibility Day 2022.

Nikki Hayfield is a Senior Lecturer in Social Psychology at the University of the West of England (UWE), whose research focuses on bisexualities, pansexualities, and asexualities.

This is a selection of the feedback that we received from the attendees:

“This was such a wonderful event! I would love to come to future events on the topic of bisexual research.”

“Brilliant speaker and really fascinating research. Appreciated the chance to ask questions of someone actively researching biphobia and bisexuality.”

“Nikki is absolutely brilliant, she was so engaging and knowledgeable and a joy to listen to. I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation, I was so sad it was only an hour! A fascinating and incredibly important field of research. Huge thank you to Nikki and the Diversity Trust.”

“Really informative, lots of valuable information and discussion. Opened me up to a lot of new ideas and concepts which I’ll take away and think/read more about. Will use this session to inform my work going forward. Thank so much for your time and expertise!”

“Really interesting and well researched presentation. The speaker was really engaging and had a vast amount of knowledge on the subject.”

“Such a great talk, really comprehensive, nice to have opportunities to engage and very refreshing to hear a bit about research focusing on bipositivity. Loved the time set aside for answering questions. Most of all it felt wonderful to be a (virtual) space with so many other bi people.”

“Great event, engaging speaker and fascinating topic! I really like that there were BSL interpreters also.”

“I have learnt more about bi-experiences and visibility, bi-sexual persons self beliefs and the beliefs of others towards them, past and present research focussing on the subject.”
