Ahmer Ashraf is a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion consultant and trainer with the Diversity Trust.
He has more than 20 years of professional experience across Europe, including the UK, and the Asia-Pacific region. His work spans DEI, organisational culture, public affairs, health and social policy, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications. He has led internal culture initiatives, including DEI programmes and organisation-wide unconscious bias training.
Ahmer has also worked on public-health programmes addressing HIV, hepatitis C and substance use, as well as initiatives supporting marginalised communities, including women experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage, people who inject drugs, male sex workers, and trans and LGBT+ communities. He has collaborated with public, private and civil-society organisations on public-health, humanitarian and community-support programmes.
Through the Diversity Trust, Ahmer has worked with organisations including Skills Development Scotland, NHS organisations and the British Medical Association. His work has included equality policy reviews, EDI strategies, frameworks and action plans, as well as training more than 1,000 participants on equality and inclusion.
Ahmer holds a BSc in International Relations from the University of London and has a particular interest in critical race theory and inequalities relating to race and ethnicity. Based in Rotterdam, he most recently served as Head of Engagement at the European Hematology Association, where his responsibilities included patient advocacy, membership engagement and equitable representation.
He is a former print and broadcast journalist and a committed advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion.
