For more than a decade, Carmen has worked across the charity and voluntary sector, championing race equality and addressing the intersectional inequalities experienced by people from diverse communities. Throughout her career, she has led and supported initiatives aimed at reducing barriers, amplifying underrepresented voices, and creating opportunities for individuals and communities to thrive.
As Chair of the South Gloucestershire Race Equality Network (SGREN), Carmen has worked in partnership with The Diversity Trust for many years. Through a shared commitment to advancing equality and improving outcomes for diverse communities, SGREN and The Diversity Trust have collaborated on a range of projects, community initiatives and strategic priorities. This longstanding partnership has provided Carmen with first-hand experience of the organisation’s positive impact across the region and its value as a trusted advocate and partner.
Alongside her work with SGREN and across the wider sector, Carmen has developed extensive experience in community engagement, partnership building, governance, strategic development, and advocacy. She is particularly passionate about ensuring that lived experience informs decision-making and that organisations remain accountable to the communities they serve.
As a Non-Executive Director, Carmen brings a wealth of experience and insight to the Board and is committed to supporting The Diversity Trust’s strategic ambitions and strengthening its impact across the region and beyond. Having worked alongside the organisation for many years, she is honoured to now contribute in a governance role and looks forward to working with fellow Board members, staff, volunteers and partners to advance equality, celebrate diversity, and create lasting positive change.
