Pride season is one of the hallmark events in the calendar for the LGBTQ+ community. It is an opportunity for people to celebrate who they truly are and to express their authentic selves in a comfortable and safe space.

As part of The Diversity Trust’s Voice and Influence Project, our team travelled around the South West attending various Pride events to engage with LGBTQ+ people.

Our aim was to listen to the people who lived in each area and find out what was missing for the LGBTQ+ community in their region, what gave them a sense of joy / community and how the recent Supreme Court ruling had impacted them or their loved ones.

Due to the current political climate, now more than ever, it has been vital to amplify the voices of LGBTQ+ people and ensure these voices are being listened to by decision-makers.

This is why we are proud to present our Summer of Pride 2025 report. Our hope is that it will highlight where barriers remain an issue for LGBTQ+ people, and so statutory bodies can act and support their local LGBTQ+ community.
