Leila is a consultant for The Diversity Trust on the Race and Bias Team.
In addition to her work with The Diversity Trust, Leila runs her own training and organisational development consultancy focussed on anti-oppressive practice, especially in the workplace. She is also a representative on the Welsh Government External Accountability Group for the Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan, and a non-executive director for SpokesPerson CIC.
Leila has a wealth of previous experience including as an International Youth Worker, European Erasmu+ Trainer, Equality Partner for Fair Play Employer Award and Engagement and Training Lead at Displaced People in Action. She speaks Spanish to a mastery level and Portuguese to an intermediate level.
Leila holds a BA in Latin American Studies from the University of Essex and a Certificate in Public Policy Analysis from The London School of Economics and Political Science. She has a range of published research including work examining the experiences of Indigenous Black People in Multicultural Latin America. Most recently she published – Do the right thing: achieving equity in racialised representation in public and political life. and Deconstructing Unsafe Spaces: How to create an inclusive workplace culture for racialised staff.
Leila has worked across a broad range of sectors including private, public (local and national government, criminal justice), education, youth work, creative, and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VSCE) sectors as well as working within organisations specifically working on LGBTQIA+ and disability advocacy.
